The first exhibition from this studio was entitled 'Inside the Academy' which I curated together with Giorgi Gagoshidze in 2005.

This was the first professional attempt to create an event which dealt with our difficulties, especially problems in the education system.

I also made an installation for this exhibition called A present to the municipality

present to munisipality

After Rose Revolution we needed to start building the country from scratch. On the way a lots of mistakes were made.

In 2005 the mayor of Tbilisi allowed the artist Zurab Tsereteli (a Georgian artist based in Russia) to place one of his monumental works, a statue of St. George, in the middle of Freedom Square in the capital of Georgia.  A small monument to St. George had already been put up in Russia, in front of a police station. Now he had dedicated the same monument to the freedom and independence of the Georgian nation. Many people started to complain about this work because it was clearly intended to have a political rather than a cultural significance. The mayor of Tbilisi justified the monument by explaining that the artist had given it as a gift, and they could not refuse a work of art.

At the end of the exhibition, we sent one of these little sculptures to the mayor of Tbilisi as a gift, suggesting he use it as a model for a public sculpture in another part of Tbilisi.  Sadly, this suggestion was never acted upon.
